

Medium carbon alloy steel with good strength, toughness and wear resistance. Exhibits good hardenability and can be heat treated to achieve a balanced combination of strength and ductility. Suitable for applications requiring moderate strength with good machinability.
Widely used for shafts, gears, axles, bolts, studs and general engineering components. Suitable for automotive and heavy engineering parts where moderate strength and toughness are required.

Annealing: 680–720°C, furnace cooling.
Hardening: 830–870°C, oil quenching.
Tempering: 500–650°C depending on required properties.
Achieves good strength and toughness combination after heat treatment.
Supplied in Annealed or Normalized condition.
Can also be supplied in quenched and tempered condition as per requirement.
