DIN 1.2344 (X40CrMoV5-1 / H13) is a widely used hot work tool steel known for its excellent combination of toughness, heat resistance and wear resistance. It is commonly used in die casting, forging and extrusion applications where reliable performance at elevated temperatures is required. Compared to ESR grades, standard 1.2344 offers a cost-effective solution for general purpose tooling applications. Material uniformity, excellent machinability and polishing, high toughness and high plasticity. High wear resistance under high temperature with excellent overall hardness. Good high temperature strength and thermal fatigue resistance with very low heat deformation.
