

Medium carbon chromium-molybdenum alloy steel with higher strength and hardenability compared to SEM 420. Exhibits excellent toughness, wear resistance and good fatigue strength after heat treatment. Suitable for applications requiring improved mechanical performance under heavy loads.
Widely used for heavy-duty shafts, gears, axles, crankshafts, studs and bolts. Suitable for automotive, mining and engineering components subjected to high stress and wear conditions.

Annealing: 680–720°C, furnace cooling.
Hardening: 840–880°C, oil quenching.
Tempering: 500–650°C depending on required strength and toughness.
Achieves high strength and wear resistance after heat treatment.
Supplied in Annealed, Normalized or Quenched & Tempered condition.
Typical hardness (Q&T): 280–340 HB (approx).
