ST52.3 Alloy Steel Product Overview

ST52.3, also known as DIN 1.0570, EN S355JR, or JIS SM490A, is a low-alloy, high-strength structural steel under the DIN 17100 standard. Renowned for its excellent weldability, good impact resistance (including in sub-zero temperatures), and high tensile strength, ST52-3 is widely used in structural and mechanical applications. Typically supplied in the normalized or as-rolled condition (hardness ~180 HB), it offers a yield strength of ≥355 MPa (for thicknesses ≤16 mm) and tensile strength of 490–630 MPa. Its low carbon and manganese content ensures good formability, machinability, and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for demanding structural components.
