DB6 / DIN 1.2714 Die Steel Product Overview
DB6, also known as DIN 1.2714, AISI L6, or JIS SKT4, is a high-carbon, nickel-chromium-molybdenum-vanadium hot-work tool steel under the DIN EN ISO 4957 standard. Renowned for its high wear resistance, excellent toughness, and high hardness, it is ideal for closed-die forging applications. Typically supplied in a pre-hardened condition (360–430 BHN) or annealed (max 255 HB), it achieves a hardness of 38–42 HRC after hardening and tempering. The Cr-Ni-Mo-V alloy composition provides superior impact resistance and through-hardening properties, making it suitable for demanding hot-work environments. DB6 is an upgraded version of DIN 2713, offering enhanced die performance.
